Raising money for Junior League of London

Since 2014, the Junior League of London has raised funds and awareness to combat poverty through the annual Little Black Dress Initiative. Participants will wear the same black outfit for five consecutive days as a symbol of the campaign.

Story

We wear black because a staggering 28% of Londoners (2.5 million people) live below the poverty line.

We will be participating in the 2020 Little Black Dress Initiative. As part of the campaign, we will be wearing the same black outfit for five consecutive days and posting it to social media in order to illustrate the effects poverty can have on an individuals access to resources, confidence and professional opportunities and to raise funds for organizations that combat poverty in London.

The Little Black Dress Initiative is an annual, week-long, social-media driven advocacy event organized by the Junior League of London. Since its inception in 2014, the Initiative has raised over £135,000.

The positive impact of this global poverty initiative is a testament to the Junior League's mission to promote volunteer service, develop the potential of women and improve our community through the effective action and leadership of volunteers.
