At 06.45 on Sunday 7th August 2022 Big Bill and Big Steve will set off from Loughton in Epping Forest for what we expect to be the biggest challenge of our lives.

We intend to cycle from London to Edinburgh and back to London, that’s 946 miles with over 44,000ft of climbing. We intend to complete the ride in 125 hours finishing before 11.45 on Friday 12 August.

This means riding 182 miles, with over 8,500ft of climbing, every 24 hours on average, which we reckon means roughly 15 hours in the saddle every day.

We honestly don’t know if we can do it – but isn’t that the idea of a challenge? We’re both Shire horses rather than Whippets, not an ideal cyclist size and build!

We have been lucky(?) enough to win places in the ballot for the London Edinburgh London ride which happens every 4 years, you can get all the details from the website: https://londonedinburghlondon.com/

We are riding to raise funds for two charities that mean a lot to us both, Wooden Spoon – the children’s charity of rugby and Mind in Bradford, supporting local mental health.

We would really appreciate any support you can provide for either of these two charities. We would ideally like to split the funds raised 50 / 50. Using JustGiving means each of us has to be linked directly to one of these charities, donations to Bill's page will go to Mind, Steve’s page will go to the Wooden Spoon. We are riding as a team so do not care which of us you donate to if you have a preferred charity!
