Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am excited to share that I will be participating in the London Marathon on April 26, 2026, to support two charities close to my heart - Be More Laura Foundation and Transaid.
Please read below to hear more about my chosen charities -
Be more Laura Foundation, in memory of my lovely Niece Laura Nuttall.
In 2023, Laura died from Glioblastoma - the most aggressive form of primary brain cancer. When she was diagnosed in 2018, Laura was only 18. The doctors gave her a prognosis of just a year - but this never once deterred Laura from living her life to the fullest.
Despite aggressive treatments, sickness and everything else that comes with cancer, Laura never once gave up, and not only lived her 4 and a half years to the fullest with an incredible bucket list (including skydiving, flying a helicopter and meeting Michelle Obama) but ensured she used her time to help others, working as a Young Ambassador for the Brain Tumour charity and taking every opportunity to raise awareness of this awful disease. When she died, her final act of bravery was to donate her brain to science, something that we hope will enable scientists to better understand the disease and find kinder, more effective treatments.
We miss Laura everyday.
Please visit the Be More Laura website at www.bemorelaura.com to see how the funds raised will be used to support research for people suffering with brain tumours.
And
Transaid, an incredible international development organisation that transforms lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.
Transaid empowers communities by sharing transport expertise with partners and governments, enabling individuals to build the skills they need to change their own lives. Their work focuses on improving road safety and access to healthcare across sub-Saharan Africa. By establishing emergency transport systems in rural areas, Transaid is breaking down barriers to healthcare caused by a lack of transport.
As a proud ambassador for Transaid and a registered nurse, I find their mission deeply inspiring. Having visited both Tanzania and Zambia, I have witnessed firsthand the remarkable impact of their initiatives. In remote areas of Zambia, I saw how bicycle ambulances have transformed access to healthcare for communities, allowing faster response times in critical situations. This work has been life-saving for many individuals and has brought hope to countless rural villages.
I invite you to join me in supporting this vital cause. My target is to raise £1,000 through this marathon effort for each charity. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and secure; your details are safe with them as they never sell information or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, your contribution goes directly to Transaid—making it the most efficient way to support their life-changing work.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Thank you for your generosity!
