Raising money for Change Mental Health
In memory of Leroy Langan

Change Mental Health wants to build a future where no one needs to face mental illness alone. We seek to change society by changing attitudes, fighting stigma and influencing government to ensure a better quality of life for those affected by mental illness.

Story

Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page.

We've set this up with the aim of raising awareness to a hidden killer, men's mental health.

We've all seen the various messages and adverts spread across social media, urging men to seek help, yet since lockdown it has more than doubled in cases, up from 10% to 21% and in 2023, of the 6069 recorded cases of suicide, 75% were men.

Sadly our close friend brother and loving family man, Leroy Langan became part of those statistics. when in November 2024, he took his own life. His cheery positive outgoing personality hiding his own struggles with mental health.

To that end, we have decided to take him on one last fishing trip to our favourite annual fishing spot. We will be carrying his ashes the 120 miles , from Beattock to Port Patrick through the Southern Upland Way over six days, where we will be met by his widow and children who will then scatter him there, letting him find the peace he couldn't find in life.

We hope by doing this, we can help raise the issue of men's mental health and suicide, and perhaps raise some much needed funds for a charity that works to help those in similar circumstances to Leroy

By donating through our page, every penny will go toward the help and treatment of people like Leroy, with the hope that you father, husband, brother, friend need not go through their journey alone.

On behalf of Davie Fraser, Tina Fraser, Scott Dunsmore, Paul Henderson, Steve Quigley and Clint Langan, we thank you in advance for your support and donations.
