Raising money for UK Sepsis Trust

Thames Path Challenge 2024 · 14 September 2024 ·

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

This is in memory of my mum, In 2024 we should be celebrating her 70th birthday. We couldn’t let that milestone go by unnoticed, so to remember her and honour her memory and the incredible mum, wife, nani, sister and auntie she was her sister Fiona and I are taking part in the Thames Path Challenge.

Sepsis had a catastrophic effect on my mum in the last 6 months of her life and she never really recovered. More needs to be known about this cruel and life threatening infection.
