Each year, Leighton Fun Runners chooses a Charity of the Year to support through fundraising events, races and member-led challenges.

For 2026, we are delighted to be supporting Leighton Buzzard Mencap.

Leighton Buzzard Mencap is a small, local charity that supports children and adults with learning disabilities, as well as their families, right here in our community.

Everything the charity does is run by volunteers, from the trustees to the incredible people who give their time to run weekly groups and activities. This means that every pound raised goes directly towards making a real difference.

The charity provides a range of vital groups, including:

• Youth clubs for children and young people

• Social and life-skills groups for adults

• Holiday clubs offering fun, independence and new experiences

• Support for families, helping them feel less isolated and more connected

These groups are so much more than activities. They are places where people feel accepted, build friendships, gain confidence and truly belong. For many families, this support is life changing.

As a running club rooted in the local community, we are incredibly proud to support a charity that helps people living in the very same town we run through every week.

Together, we hope to go the extra mile to raise as much as possible and help Leighton Buzzard Mencap continue its amazing work and reach even more families who need support.
