Hello all! Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page for our Trek26, where we are raising money for the Alzheimers Society. We all know someone or a friend of who has sadly passed with Alzheimer's, or is struggling with it right now. Which is why we have decided to take part in this marathon of a hike.

We are a close knit group of friends from North Yorkshire, who love going on hikes and exploring the beautiful country side on our door step. We would like to raise money for the Alzheimer's society because we believe in everything they do.

The Venture

We will be following a 26 mile route, starting and finishing at Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens. We will be trekking around a tranquil lake nestled amongst rolling hills. Hiking through many different terrains and landscapes including woodland, field and farmland. All while walking in the shadow of Helvellyn, England's third highest peak.

What do the Alzheimer's Society do?

Support: The Alzheimer's Society are a charity that help support people and families of people suffering with Dementia, be it through their Dementia Connect service, National Service or Group Services.

Society: They are actively looking to change the fabric of the way we view Dementia within the UK. By actively calling on the Department of Health and Social Care to fix Dementia Care.

Research: They quote on their site, "there hasn't been a new drug for dementia introduced in 15 years. The drugs that exist can't slow dementia down or stop it from getting worse. There is no way to prevent dementia and there is no cure yet." Luckily they have solution to finding a cure for dementia and that's through research.

With your help and donations towards this wonderful society, and marathon walk we will partake in. We may get just that one step closer to find a cure for Alzheimer's.
