Story
On Saturday 26th July 2025 at the King Power Stadium Bobbi, Ami, Zoe and myself will be walking 10k alongside hundreds of others in memory of those that are no longer with us.
We will be walking for mum/Nanny (Liz/Elizabeth Ashby). From the moment mum left hospital after her deverstating diagnosis of terminal secondary breast cancer Loros were there to support her and us as a family. They organised mums blue(pink) badge which arrived within a couole of days and benefits.
Mum had the opportunity to visit Loros for and 8 week course although she only made it one day, she was collected in the morning and dropped home at the end of the day by a volunteer driver. She also signed up for another course with dad but was unable to attend.
The paliative care nurses that visited mum at home were all from Loros.
When Mum went into the hospice for her last couple of days a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders knowing the nurses would now look after mum. Mum was immediately made more comfortable by increasing her pain relief as soon as it was needed with no delays.
I was really worried about mum going into Loros because it was so far to travel to for all of us as a family. The facilities available to families that need to stay close to their loved ones are amazing. There was no need to leave mum there on her own we were able to stay for the duration.
We think Loros is an amazing service that should be made available to all families in a similar position to us.
Please consider donating and support LOROS Hospice so that they can be there for terminally ill patients and their families at a time when they need it most.
Every £1 you donate will make a huge difference to people within our area, and will encourage all of us on as we walk in unity on this 10k sponsored walk round Leicester City Centre.
Thank you in advance for your kind support.
