UPDATE

So we leave for Amsterdam tomorrow for Raich to take part in the Amsterdam Marathon. We were both supposed to be running but it was decided that with all of the added health complications I have had since my breast cancer diagnosis that it would be foolish to attempt it. So, Raich is going it alone!

She has trained so hard for this and is hoping to complete it in 4 hours 30 mins.

Everyone thinks that this will be easy for her as she is super fit. She is super fit but it is not easy. She suffers systemic sclerosis, a rare auto-immune disease for which there is no cure. This effects her in numerous different ways and she has various physical symptoms including extreme fatigue. I have no idea how she has managed to train so hard, whilst caring for all of the animals and managing her own illness whilst I work away.

The run is on the second anniversary of my diagnosis with breast cancer. It really has been a rollercoaster ever since and the fear of it coming back is always there. So many people we all know and love are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The work carried out by Against Breast Cancer is invaluable.
