Story
At Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate, our "Out There" mission is simple: to inspire our pupils and empower them to drive positive local change.
As staff, we see the potential in our children every single day. We know that they don’t just want to learn about the world—they want to shape it. By supporting this project, you aren’t just funding a volunteering programme; you are giving our Lofthouse Gate pupils the tools to support their own neighbours and the wider Wakefield community.
The impact of this project is deeply personal to us. A significant number of our families face their own challenges, and for many of our children, "Out There" provides the "cultural capital" and hands-on experience they might not otherwise access. It allows our pupils to step out of the classroom and develop the confidence to become true leaders in their own community.
In recent years, our children have heard a lot about what divides us. However, through our Pupil Voice sessions, they have sent a clear message: they want to get out there and make a difference and help those who need it most, but they need our collective support to turn those aspirations into action.
The staff at Lofthouse Gate are fundraising because we believe in our children’s power to be "change-makers." Every donation supports our pupils, and helps us prove that even the youngest members of Lofthouse Gate can make a massive impact.
On Saturday 13th June, nine members of the Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate staff team will be taking on the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. We will be trekking 24 miles and climbing over 5,000 feet across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, all within 12 hours. We are pushing ourselves to the limit because we believe passionately in our pupils' mission to become "change-makers" in the Wakefield community. Every donation to our team page directly supports our "Out There" project, providing the resources our children need to lead local volunteering initiatives and helping us build an "experience prize bank" to reward their hard work with life-changing opportunities. Please get behind our staff team as we climb for our community!
