Story

Nearly three years ago, Lou's beloved Dad tragically passed away after suffering a heart attack. Despite the incredible efforts of many—including the amazing NHS—the air ambulance team were the first on the scene and fought tirelessly to get him the urgent care he needed. Sadly, despite everything, he couldn’t be saved.

Losing her Dad changed everything for Lou and her family. "We’ve had to learn how to live in a world without him. We miss him every single day. He was our giant, our rock, and he loved us unconditionally. Every time I’ve run the Great North Run or pushed myself in any way, he was always there—cheering me on, supporting me every step of the way.

Until now, I haven’t felt strong enough to do anything in his honour. But this year feels different.

My Dad was a proud Geordie. He loved the Toon and the North East. He never left this place. He built his business here, raised his family here—it was his home. That’s why I want to give something back to the North East. Through fundraising, I hope we can help prevent other families from experiencing the kind of loss we’ve endured.

I couldn’t have made it through the past few years without the love and support of my amazing friends and family. That’s why I’m so proud that, once again, Jen and I will be running this race together—dragging each other through every mile.

This one’s for you, Dad". xx
