Story
Walking beyond survival.
Every cancer journey reveals a narrative of courage, endurance, and hope. My experience isn't just about overcoming one of life's toughest obstacles; it's also about transforming that challenge into a mission to assist others.
After my battle with breast cancer, I decided to honour what I went through by preparing to trek part of the Sahara Desert alongside my dear friend Tash , raising crucial funds for breast cancer research.
This challenge is more than just a physical achievement. It stands as a tribute to the struggles endured by countless people and families affected by breast cancer, showing how adversity can inspire purpose, compassion, and lasting change.
My breast cancer journey started in July 2024, following a devastating diagnosis after discovering a lump on my right breast. Chemotherapy began almost immediately, bringing both physical and emotional hardships. I lost my hair, suffered from extreme fatigue, and experienced rapid weight gain due to steroids—all of which impacted my sense of femininity. Surgery followed, then radiotherapy, with additional bouts of neuropathy further affecting my mobility.
Throughout this demanding time, my friends and family offered incredible support, and I received ongoing care from the NHS. The skill, dedication, and empathy of the medical professionals involved have been essential in my recovery, and I am deeply grateful for their continued care. I continue to have injections every three weeks to help prevent recurrence.
Now, Tash and I are getting ready to tackle one of the most challenging experiences imaginable — crossing a section of the Sahara Desert together over several days.
But this journey is much more than a test of endurance; it’s a profoundly personal mission.
Each step across the harsh terrain symbolises the determination needed to face cancer. The intense heat, endless horizons, and fatigue reflect, in many ways, the battles of treatment. Yet, like during my own struggle, we move forward with perseverance, bravery, and optimism.
We’re undertaking this trek to raise money for breast cancer research, supporting progress in treatment, early detection, and care for those diagnosed in the future. Research saves lives—it gives families more time, more choices, and more precious moments.
By supporting us, you’re not only backing an extraordinary challenge, but you’re also standing with survivors, current patients, and future generations who will benefit from the advances that research enables.
Tash has been with me every step of the way throughout my journey and we are turning a personal ordeal into a mission that inspires and reaches far beyond my lived experience . This walk is proof that after facing immense hardship, it’s possible to recover, give back, and motivate others.
Please Join us in making every step matter.
