Story
On Sunday, 27th April 2025, Lulu & Mel will tackle running the London Marathon to raise £6000 for Blood Cancer UK.
In August 2012, Lulu was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), a life threatening illness and rare type of childhood leukaemia. If untreated it can be fatal within 4-6 weeks. She was only 13.
Lulu was on a family holiday in Greece when she became extremely ill. After a 4 hour blood transfusion and going in and out of consciousness, she was air evacuated back to Bristol Children's Hospital.
After 141 over night stays in hospital, 6 months of intensive chemotherapy, regular blood transfusions, 6 general anaesthetic operations, 4 bone marrow tests, 20 "counter measure" drugs to deal with chemo side effects, Lulu was beating blood cancer and officially in "remission". We are forever grateful for the incredible treatment and care Lulu received and since then our mission has been to support Blood Cancer UK in funding the life-saving research and work they do to support anyone affected by blood cancer.
Our Dad started our family on this path, raising over £60,000 in 2013 thanks to an incredible series of events. He sadly passed away in December 2015, but we have been determined to continue his legacy. In 2018, Lulu and Mel ran the Bristol Half Marathon, raising over £3000 for Blood Cancer. Now, they are tackling double that distance with the London Marathon and hope to raise double the amount, too!
So please donate as much or as little as you can. Together, you can help us beat blood cancer and make our Dad proud! ❤️😊
