Story
Myself, Gemma & Brenda are taking part in Epilepsy Society's 60 Miles in September challenge to raise awareness for the 60,000 children diagnosed with epilepsy in the UK.
60,000 kids are diagnosed with epilepsy and our little Lyle is one of them.
He was diagnosed with ESES & Epilepsy in 2023, 2 years on we have been through all available medications, currently on 3 at the moment and still no further forward to controlling his ESES that is part of epilepsy.
What is ESES - Electrical Status Epilepticus in Sleep.
EEG Finding - During non-REM (Slow-wave) sleep, Lyle has a near-continuous spike and wave activity, occupying >85% of non-REM sleep
Clinical features - Lyle experiences seizures, often focal or generalized but the most challenging problem is contentive and behavioral regression. (language, memory, attention & learning)
Seizures may improve with age, but the neurocognitive impact can persist making recognition and treatment critical.
60 miles for more recognition and help curing ESES/Epilepsy in September for the 60,000 kids with the condition in Scotland - Count me in!
Any donation that you are able to make will help them to continue their incredible work and will spur me on throughout my challenge!
Thank you so much for your support!
