On 12th Nov I’ll be heading east to the Olympic pool in Stratford to swim 10k to raise money for Unique and Level Water charities.

I chose Unique (a rare chromosome charity) because of my friend's daughter, Sofia. She is the sweetest, funniest and most-trusting little girl.

Sofia was born with part of one of her chromosomes missing, a deletion of the genetic material resulting in a delay in her physical and mental development.

There is no known match for Sofia's deletion in the world meaning that is it extremely difficult for her family to know what her future will look like, and how to best treat and support her.

However Unique provides support, information and networking for families affected by rare chromosome and gene disorders. They do an amazing job helping to make children like Sofia have easier lives, full of opportunities and giving guidance to the families.

The second charity (Level Water) run swimming lessons for children with disabilities, I'm hoping to raise £100 for Level Water and £150 for Unique.
