Story
Running the London Marathon for Scoliosis Support and Research
Scoliosis is a condition that has deeply touched both sides of our family. On my side, my beautiful, funny, and outgoing daughter Holly was diagnosed with scoliosis in November last year. Like many, we didn’t know much about the condition at the time—it came as a shock. Holly had mentioned that her shoulder seemed to stick out, but as parents of a teenager, we chalked it up to the usual growing pains.
It was only during a holiday spa day when a massage therapist noticed something unusual and suggested we get it checked. Fast-forward seven months, after countless X-rays, MRI scans, and consultations, Holly underwent a successful 5-hour surgery thanks to an incredible medical team in London. We feel so fortunate for the care Holly received, but we know many families face longer waits and tougher journeys. That’s why we want to give back.
On my nephew’s side of the family, scoliosis has also been a recurring challenge. His aunt underwent surgery years ago, and he remembers how she came out an inch taller than her father! His two cousins were diagnosed as children and, while they avoided surgery, endured years of wearing braces and undergoing extensive physiotherapy to manage their conditions.
Scoliosis is a condition that has shaped so many lives close to us, and it’s why we’ve chosen to run the London Marathon together in support of Scoliosis Support and Research. This amazing charity provides vital help to children and families who are navigating a scoliosis diagnosis, waiting for treatment, or in need of expert advice.
Please join us in making a difference for the boys and girls, parents, and loved ones who are living with scoliosis. Your support will help fund research, provide resources, and give hope to families like ours. Every donation, big or small, means the world to us—and to those who need it most.
Thank you for standing with us!
