Macmillan Caring Locally is a small charity established in 1974 to build the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital, and to support it in partnership with the NHS. Although we share the Macmillan name we are not connected to the national charity Macmillan Cancer Support. Donations we receive are used to fund the specialist care of our patients at the Macmillan Unit, and those who are under our care living at home in our community.

The funds raised at the White Christmas Dip have enabled us to buy essential equipment for the Macmillan Unit and to provide an attractive, homely environment for our patients, their families and visitors. We are so grateful to Tommy, John, Richard, their families and friends who started this great event in 2008. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who has given up their Christmas morning to do something completely mad, and raise funds for our charity at the same time.
