Story
Thank you for visiting our page. We’re raising money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) by swimming, cycling and running our way around Weymouth and Dorset in September and would be so grateful for your support.
We are blessed that the work done by BHF helped my Dad (Luke’s Grandad Gerald) survive a major heart attack this year and my father-in-law (Grandad Sid) survive in good health for decades after a heart attack (and see all his grandchildren grow up) and my best friend (Kevo) navigate a serious heart problem. Sadly my Mum (Nanny Mary) didn’t survive her major heart attack but funding for BHF will help to discover new treatments for more conditions and help more people. We know nearly everyone reading this will have their own experiences where heart health and, hopefully, treatment has affected them, so we want to do our small part to help the amazing work of BHF.
Here it is then: we have entered the 2025 Ironman 70.3 in Weymouth (we know, insane right😱 & testament to what even a modest amount of alcohol can do to our judgement😂) which will see us swimming 1.2 miles in the English Channel, riding 56 miles in the hills of Dorset then finishing with a 13.1 mile half marathon run back in Weymouth. As a measure of how far we are to just get to the start line we can’t even swim the distance in a heated, indoor pool right now😱 and anyone that knows Martin will know about the slight(🤔) back issues he has. Neither of us has done anything remotely like this before so your support for the BHF cause will help to motivate us to train even when the weather is bad, the pub calls out or we just feel too tired…
Many thanks for reading and we would be very grateful of any donation you feel able to make (& remember to Gift Aid if you can to make every penny count even more!).
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like you that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help us hit our target.
