Our son Freddie who is now 12, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 3 years ago. This bullet out of the blue turned our lives upside down and it has been a relentless learning curve (and a worry!) ever since. Freddie has a lot to deal with every day with approximately 12 finger pricks and 12 injections every day as well as through the night and that's on a good day if his blood sugar behaves! Freddie is also autistic and his sensory challenges make accessing any of the diabetes technology a no-no for him even though they could potentially make his life (and ours) easier. We respect Freddie's decision, it is his body after all, and hope that when he's older he may reconsider.

We are supporting Diabetes UK in order to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes and to give something back towards their support and ongoing research. We hope that through supporting Diabetes UK we inch that little bit further forward towards a cure. We hope this will be something which becomes available in Freddie's lifetime.
