Story
On Sunday, 14 September 2025, Matt & Ian will be tackling the iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride – a 55-mile challenge taking us from the bustling streets of the capital to the seaside finish. We’re taking on this ride not just for the thrill of pushing our limits, but to raise vital funds for Hospice Ethiopia UK, a charity close to our hearts.
About Hospice Ethiopia UK
Hospice Ethiopia UK supports local communities in Ethiopia to bring free end-of-life care to some of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable people. Every year, Hospice Ethiopia:
- Trains healthcare workers in pain management and end-of-life care
- Establishes and supports community outreach teams in remote areas
- Provides counselling and bereavement support to patients and families
- Improves access to essential pain relief medications
Hospice Ethiopia receives no government funding and relies entirely on charitable donations. All the money you donate on this page will be going directly to the charity, and as a small team with a high patient caseload, whatever you can give will go a long way!
Our Challenge: London → Brighton, 55 miles
The London to Brighton ride is a personal milestone for both of us:
When I visited Ethiopia in 2013, I saw firsthand how Hospice Ethiopia UK transforms communities by training nurses and supporting families. I knew I had to do something to help them reach more people.
We’ve already logged hundreds of training miles on our bikes, braved early-morning hill repeats and long weekend rides, and we’re ready to face the real thing in September. Every hill conquered in training brings us one step closer to making a difference.
