McEwens Kiltwalk - Keep Girls in School Malawi

Raising money for McConnell International Foundation

Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2026 · 13 September 2026 ·

We're back! Support our Kiltwalk 2026 team so that 200 girls in rural Malawi can complete 4 years of secondary school. Every pound we raise covers essential costs including: compulsory uniforms, books, dignity packs, extra tuition for each girl.

Story

The Keep Girls in School programme was established by the McConnell International Foundation in late 2020 in response to the Girls in Malawi – one of the world’s poorest countries - were dropping out of secondary school in larger numbers than ever before, because of pregnancy or poverty.

There are now 200 girls in the programme and each one receives a scholarship which cover all the essentials to help her complete her education: compulsory uniform, books, stationery, dignity packs, extra classes and other costs. The cost per student is £120 a year.
