Last summer, over a glass of wine, Vish and I stumbled upon the craziest of running races. "Ever heard of the Medoc Marathon? You run through chateaux, drinking wine as you go," Vish exclaimed, taking another sip of his Castello di Ama 'San Lorenzo' 2019. I'd heard of it, but never imagined I'd tackle it.

A few more glasses in, and here we are—planning our Medoc Marathon challenge. But who to raise funds for?

Working at The Perfect Bottle, a wine industry startup, the choice was clear. The Gérard Basset Foundation, which was set up in memory of Gérard Basset (7th March 1957 – 16th January 2019) OBE MS MW MBA OIV MSc ASI who was without question one of the greatest wine professionals of his era was the natural selection.
