We are the Metabolic Terrain Team — eight walkers united by a shared belief that there is a better way to support people living with cancer, and by the memory of those in our community who we have loved and lost.

This October, as part of the Yes to Life Global Camino Challenge, we are walking 24 miles of the South West Coast Path in South Devon — in loving memory of Louise, Tanja, Emma, Mairi Claire, Lea, Sarah, Fiona, Elena, Ruth, Risi and Jennifer. We carry them with us on every step.

Our community pioneers the Metabolic Approach to Cancer — an integrative, evidence-informed way of understanding and addressing cancer that looks at the whole person: their diet, their environment, their mitochondrial health, and the terrain in which cancer grows. We believe that by addressing the metabolic roots of cancer, we can pursue better outcomes, better quality of life, and more hope for people facing one of life's hardest journeys.

Cancer now affects 1 in 2 people in the UK in their lifetime. The people we walk in memory of were pioneers — curious, courageous, and unwilling to accept that there was nothing more to be done. Their legacy lives on in every person our community reaches, in every conversation that opens a new door, and in every life that is changed by discovering that there is another way.

Yes to Life is the UK's ONLY integrative cancer care charity — and the organisation that makes it possible for people to find that other way. They run a free helpline, a peer support community, an education programme, and a directory of integrative approaches to cancer, helping people make informed decisions about their treatment and their lives.

We are walking for those we have lost. We are walking for those still fighting. And we are walking for everyone who deserves to know that there is more than one path through cancer.
