Story
Last year I scaled the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest, albeit from safety of the UK’s flattest county, Cambridgeshire, where I climbed a 20m hill 442 times to reach the 8,849m height of Everest.
Not content with that, I will be kicking off 2024 by taking to the local roads to run (and perhaps crawl) the distance from Lands’ End to John O’Groats – the small matter of 874 miles!
I will be starting my quest on 1 January and is aiming to complete the challenge by ‘World Homeless Day’, the 10 October. It fair to say this is more of a marathon than a sprint!
On a more serious note, homelessness is something that is close to my heart – I am hoping that through this challenge I will be able to raise funds for my chosen charities who all do such remarkable work supporting the homeless community (See below for further details on the charities).Through this process, it’s equally important for me to understand the reasons people end up homeless, so will be keen to talk to as many individuals about their personal stories, to hear their experiences and their aspirations.
