Story
My name is Michael I am 49 and will be 50 by the time the event comes round I am hoping to run a half marathon on the 16th of February in Alicante Spain.I will be running with my son Elliot if I am well enough if I am unable to do the event Elliot will run on my behalf and will be doing it for the Christie hospital in Manchester. In January this year my life got turned upside down when I was diagnosed with bowel cancer after the scans I was told it had spread to the lymph nodes and the liver. My prognosis now isn’t very good as my cancer can not be cured ive been told it’s terminal. Within 3 weeks of being diagnosed I was under the knife having colostomy surgery after 4 weeks recovery I started chemotherapy at the Christie hospital 8 months later I am still having chemotherapy every two weeks the latest cycle ends at the end of January which means my training for the run will be a lot harder than normal. Chemotherapy isn’t an easy thing to go through but it’s the only thing that is giving me chance of hopefully prolonging my life for me and my family but I feel I need to give something back to the Christie hospital they have been fantastic during my treatment. I am also hoping for a miracle along the way maybe I can beat this I won’t give in the odds are against me but I’m up for the challenge and hope one day I can be cancer free.
