Little about why Maggie's Centres for us...

David Here - I'm really pleased to be cycling alongside Ethan in this 100mile charity event. It will be a tough event both physically and mentally for the both of us and I think I speak on behalf of the both of us by saying we can't wait for race day!

On a more serious note, cancer has unfortunately been a focal point at some point in both my family and Ethan's. They say that one in every three people will contract this horrible illness at some point in their life which in my opinion is a pretty scary statistic and just shows why cancer charities are critical. From personal experience cancer can sometimes be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the problems that come hand in hand with it. Sleepless nights, anxiety, depression and so on. This is exactly why Maggie's play a vital role in offering family counseling and support services, without the help and support given a lot of families may not have been able to cope as well as they have done!

Ethan Here - My Mother passed away from breast cancer in 2014 and it's safe to say that it fairly leaves a void in your life...that's why these cancer support charities are vital to emotionally, mentally & sometimes physically support people dealing with cancer & loved ones affected by its aftermath. Recently my wife Sabine; had a melanoma discovered on her back, since then life has been a bit of rollercoaster. Sabine has fought like a warrior to heal back from operations & preventative treatment. For me this ride is for my Mother & my wife Sabine, two of the most influential women in my life. Proud to be doing this alongside a great friend of mine; David, who I firmly feel I have bonded with over this challenging & similar experience with cancer in the family.

We are taking part in the 100 mile event during Ride the North 2023. We aim to raise £500 for Maggie's Centres who offer great support services for those who directly are affected by cancer & the family/friends around them. You are in good company at one of the Maggie's Centres

This ride will test our bodies for sure but more our mind's level of resilience to get the job done. 100 miles in a single day will more than personal achievement...because it has a purpose close to our hearts.
