On 14th June 2023, MOT Expert's CEO, Ross was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer, also known as Colon or Bowel Cancer.

This is one of the most aggressive cancers.

Only 1 in 3 cases are diagnosed at stage I or II.

The five-year overall survival rate is 64%.

It is one of the hardest to identify as it often starts with no symptoms and by the time there are signs, it has usually progressed to Stage 3 or 4.

Disney Marvel's very own Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, was diagnosed in 2016 with stage 3 colon cancer and unfortunately lost his fight in 2020 at the age of 43.

After being diagnosed at Stage 1, Ross had surgery in August 2023, removing his entire bowel and colon, leaving him with a permanent stoma bag. In the two weeks following, he lost 16 kgs.

Fortunately, his recovery has been great and the stoma, affectionately known by his kids as 'Bob', has saved his life.

Since then, Ross and the team at MOT Expert have taken on various challenges, raising over £8,000 for Cancer Research, which affects 1 in every 1.6 people - more than the national campaign's average statistic of '1 in 2'.

MOT Expert's Director, Kyle took on 3 half marathons in 3 days, Ross completed Race for Life 2024 in under 26 minutes and MOT Expert's COO, Haider took on a White Collar Boxing match, winning by stoppage in the second round.

This year, a number of the team here at MOT Expert and the MOT Compliance Group are taking on the Race for Life in Northampton on 13th July 2025. We are looking for sponsors to support such a great cause.
