Our team—consisting of Richard, Maria, Fardos, and myself—are thrilled to participate in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise vital funds for Children 1st. This incredible organization is dedicated to ensuring that children across Scotland are safe, loved, and well.

Every donation we receive will make a significant difference:

• £120 can provide weekly support for two young carers, helping them boost their self-esteem, reduce their isolation, and form positive relationships.

• £112 funds the average "Crisis Grant" for a family, enabling them to cover essential needs such as food, nappies, or replacing a broken appliance.

• £100 offers three hours of service from Children 1st Parentline, a free and confidential helpline for parents and carers who need someone to talk to about their worries.

• £60 will pay for an activity session for a group of children, aiding them in building friendships, developing new skills, and growing in confidence.

• £45 can provide a support session to a family, helping them navigate their anxieties and challenges.

• £25 allows a young person to access a therapeutic session that will help them begin recovering from trauma and/or abuse.

Children 1st works tirelessly to support children and their families in their homes, local communities, and across Scotland. They offer emotional, practical, and financial support to help families prioritize their children and campaign to uphold every child's rights.

In 2024, it is unacceptable that 1 in 4 children are living in poverty in Scotland. Today's generation faces unprecedented pressures and challenges. Online harm is contributing to a mental health crisis. Unrealistic expectations from social media are eroding their confidence. Bullying has invaded their bedrooms, a space that should be safe. Anxiety, low mood, and self-harm are alarmingly common. Children are waiting too long to receive help, if at all. Record numbers of young people are not attending school, and many face trauma, neglect, and abuse.
