MUGAthon: Ridgeway Ramblers

Raising money for Sherbourne Fields School Association

Sherbourne Fields is an Outstanding all age special school for pupils with a broad spectrum of need including physical disabilities, medical conditions and learning needs. The school’s population is wide-ranging and diverse, with pupils from a rich mix of social and cultural backgrounds.

Story

At Sherbourne Fields Special School, they believe that every child deserves the opportunity to explore and express their sporting abilities in a safe and controlled environment. A Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) will provide just that—a space where children can engage in physical activities without fear of injury or exclusion.

Reflecting on my own school years, I remember the joy of simply kicking a ball around with friends during recess. This simple pleasure should be accessible to every child, regardless of their physical challenges. Currently, our playground is shared by many children who face these challenges, making it difficult for them to participate in schoolyard games. The MUGA will not only create a safer play area but also allow those who can play more freely to do so without risk to others.

Moreover, this area will serve as an innovative classroom for some of the school's PE classes, enhancing the educational experience for all students. On October 7th, 2026, we are embarking on an exciting journey—the Ridgeway National Trail - 139km MUGAthon! and aim to raise £15,000 for this vital project through our group trek.

We urgently need your support to make this dream a reality! Join us in creating a well-used and much-needed addition to our school playground by donating today. Together, we can ensure that every child at Sherbourne Fields has the chance to thrive through sport.
