NE Regional Team Challenge 858! What is it…
The pandemic has meant, like many of you reading this, that we have been working from home since March 2020.
As Boris has now shared his plans for easing lockdown restrictions and navigating our lives back to ‘normal’, we thought that there was no better time to challenge ourselves to get outdoors, breathe in some fresh air and stack up some miles whilst raising a few pennies for two charities that are close to our hearts.
The North East region covers a vast geographical area, starting at the top of Northumberland right down to the bottom of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
We agreed that the distance between our most northerly agency and most southerly agency, a mere 220 miles, was not challenging enough (a decision we may regret!!) so, we are going to cover the distance between all of our agency offices in the North East Region- 858 miles. Whether this be running, walking, cycling, horse riding or any other form of exercise each member of the NE Regional team has pledged the amount of miles they are going to complete!
The challenge will take place over 4 days from Friday 14th May to Monday 17th May.
We would love to raise £1 for every mile covered for each charity, so thank you very much for your generous support.
Why are we raising money?
Mind- The past 12 months have been challenging for many. Isolation and the fear of COVID-19 has not only exacerbated the symptoms of existing mental health conditions but has meant that our colleagues, friends, families, and people we know who have never experienced symptoms before are suffering and many of them in silence.
Mind have made it their mission that no one should have to face a mental health problem alone and we want to support their mission!
The Brain Tumour Charity- Your brain is the most extraordinary part of your body and it’s the part of you that makes you, who you are.
At the moment 102,000 people are living with a brain tumour and two close friends of one of our team members have experienced the devasting affects that a brain tumour can have. We want to support the funding of research into the disease and help increase the current survival rates which are a desperate 11%.
The charity we have chosen is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally.
