When people talk about Dementia most people like myself will think of people of a certain age being diagnosed people just assume it’s something older people get which isn’t always the case as our family recently found out, my beautiful mum was full of life she was the kindest women you had ever met, she was a great mum but she was an even greater nana she was the glue that held our family together the rock the one we all went to for help, then in October last year she needed us to be her rock and help her she went in to hospital in November and she never came home from that day, she was 55 years old all it took was 59 days for this illness to completely strip my mum of who she was it took away her voice her ability to eat and drink and to even go to the toliet herself and she sadly passed away on the 19th January 2024 with her family around her, none of us will ever get over losing her a death in any family is hard to deal with but when it’s to something as cruel as dementia and also when they are so young it’s even harder to understand and process especially when your looking for answers that are just not there and nobody can tell you why this happened, me and my 16 year old daughter Lexi who was known as ginge by her nana will be taking on this challenge in memory of my mum and hopefully raise some vital funds for the charity to help make a difference to peoples lives who are living with this awful illness if we can raise enough to help one person or raise some to go towards more research to understanding the illness then we will have done what we set out to do and create a little legacy of my mum ❤️❤️
