Alder Hey takes on Yr Wyddfa challenge 2026

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.

By now, most of you have heard my daughter, Nuala's story and how she was diagnosed with an ultra-rare cancer when she was 9 months old. This resulted in a her having a rare surgery called a left-orbital exenteration surgery, in simple terms she lost her left and now lives with a visible facial difference. Though it's been over two years since Nuala's surgery, behind the scenes of us trying to get back to a life filled with normality, Nuala still spends a lot of time in Alder Hey Children's hospital. There are many teams involved in Nuala's care; oncology, craniofacial, neurology, ophthalmology to name a few. She continues to have regular MRI scans 3-4 times a year and she is also having therapy with Alder Hey's brilliant psychology team.

There are so many healthcare professionals involved in Nuala's care; saving her life was just the start of her journey with Alder Hey. They continue to be a huge part of her recovery and rehabilitation since her cancer diagnosis and losing her eye. That is why it continues to be so important to myself, Meg and the kids to raise vital funds, so that Alder Hey can continue to care for children like Nuala, every single day.

Thanks to a couple of great lads who are always ready to jump on board to support my fund raising, I've formed a team to take on this years fundraising challenge. Together, myself, Joe, Alex and Phil are taking on the 'Yr Wyddfa' challenge, which involves a triathlon with a twist. Our challenge involves a 9 mile mountain bike, 2 miles canoeing around Llyn Padarn and finishing with a 9 mile round-hike up Mt Snowdon. It's some effort and we aren't taking it lightly.

I want to thank you all in advance for continuing to support myself, Meg, Jack and Nuala and of course, the lads joining me in raising funds for Alder Hey. It mean's a great deal to us that people support us, no matter how big or small the donation is, I appreciate every single one.
