Story
I lost both my Mum and Dad within 12 days of each other earlier this year. As I find a new normal, it's clear that I need something to focus on that feels worthy of them, a challenge as big as the love I have for them both and as big as the gap they leave in my life.
To honour them both, I'm walking the entire 84 mile Norfolk Coast Path in a single, unbroken attempt. No stopping. No sleeping. Just one foot in front of the other until it's done.
My Dad spent his final years living with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, a horrible disease that slowly took him from us. Dementia UK is fighting to find a cure so that other families don't have to go through what ours did. My Mum spent her last days in a hospice, surrounded by extraordinary people who made sure she wasn't afraid.
Every pound you donate goes towards finding a cure for the disease that stole my Dad, and supporting the hospice services that gave my Mum dignity and comfort when she needed it most. If you can spare anything, it means everything.
Note: The picture was taken when my Mum and Dad, my two brothers and my sister were all together one final time on 12th January this year which was made possible by the Priscilla Bacon Lodge charity.
