Story
We are running 1 mile a day, for 100 days. Starting on the 27th June and finishing on the 5th Oct in aid of the RAF Benevolent fund and a local charity (To be decided who).
This could be a walk / scoot / family mile too, you don’t have to run.. 😀
RAF Odiham, a historic airbase with a century-long legacy of aviation excellence, is set to celebrate a momentous milestone - 100 years of aviation from its hallowed grounds. As part of the commemorative events marking this significant occasion, a series of initiatives have been planned to honour the rich history and contributions of RAF Odiham. One such initiative involves a fundraising campaign for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF), a noble cause that supports serving and former members of the RAF and their families in times of need.
In a show of solidarity and commitment, the RAF Odiham community, comprising military personnel, their families, civil servants, and local residents, has come together to participate in a unique fundraising endeavour. The challenge is to run 1 mile a day, every day, for 100 days, symbolising the endurance and resilience that have been hallmarks of RAF Odiham's ethos over the past century. This collective effort not only pays tribute to the airbase's illustrious history but also underscores the spirit of camaraderie and support that defines the RAF community.
The fundraising drive is open to all who wish to contribute to this worthy cause, reflecting the inclusive and supportive nature of RAF Odiham and its surrounding community. By joining the just-giving team and taking part in this initiative, individuals have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and show their appreciation for the sacrifices and service of RAF personnel past and present. Furthermore, the RAFBF's commitment to donate to the local parish council's charity of choice highlights the interconnectedness between RAF Odiham and the broader community, reinforcing the bonds forged through a shared history of dedication and service.
