Story
I’m taking on this run in memory of my incredible nan, who we sadly lost to cancer three years ago. In 2018, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and bravely underwent intensive chemotherapy and treatment. After a tough fight, she never gave up and was given the all-clear and proudly rang the bell—a moment that filled us all with pride and hope.
Tragically, her battle didn’t end there. She was later diagnosed with a tumour near her spine and had spread to her bones which meant we had little time left with her. Despite the devastating news, my nan faced every challenge with unwavering strength, courage, and a smile. She was truly the strongest woman I’ve ever known—always lifting others up, no matter what she was going through. She showed us all what it means to be truly strong. We not only lost a beloved nan, but also a mother, sister, and wife. This run is dedicated to those who are going through similar battles and to all the families who stand by their loved ones.
I miss my nan more than words could ever express, and every single day I wish she was by my side
