Remembering Paolo Giorgi

Raising money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

As many of you may already know, our son, brother and friend Paolo Giorgi passed away on Saturday 18th January. We are in the process of organising his celebration of life and will circulate the details as soon as it is all finalised as we would love those who knew him to join us.

One thing is for sure, Paolo would have much rather had people donate to charity than to spend money on flowers, so we have chosen three charities in his honour.

The first is Alley Cats Rescue. We all know Paolo was a next-level cat whisperer, and this Bucks-based charity rescues stray and feral kittens from the streets, and finds homes for them in loving and caring households. Alley Cats doesn't have a Just Giving page so the link is here if you wish to donate to this organisation in particular: https://www.alleycatsrescue.co.uk/donate

We also chose Janie's Homeless Friends as Paolo had a lot of empathy for those without a home. This family-run charity focuses on helping rough sleepers and those living in crisis across London and Bucks, specifically Chesham.

Finally, we have chosen CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) as the third charity. It is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day. Paolo's death has come as such a shock to all those who knew him and we feel passionately about supporting a charity championing more open conversations about young men's mental health.
