Running for Bernie: Paul & Marc’s Cambridge Half

Raising money for Isabel Hospice
In memory of Bernie Duffy

Cambridge Half Marathon 2026 · 8 March 2026 ·

On 8th March 2026, our team of Isabel Hospice runners will tackle the iconic TTP Cambridge Half Marathon to help raise vital funds for Isabel Hospice.

Story

On March 8th, my cousin Marc and I will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon in memory of my mum, who passed away peacefully on August 31st after a year long battle with cancer. In the final months of her life, the Isabel Hospice Community Team were incredible, supporting us at home and eventually caring for Mum on one of their incredible wards, where she spent her final day in comfort and dignity. We would have been lost without them.

Now, in a misguided decision, we’ve committed to 13.1 miles of running, despite the fact that I haven’t run anywhere (apart from the pub) in over 15 years, and Marc… well, let’s just say he’s built for rugby, not distance running. But we’re doing it together, driven by pride, competitiveness, and the unwavering belief that we haven’t aged since 2007.

Isabel Hospice delivers its care entirely free to those who need it, but to do so they must raise over £10 million every year. The NHS covers around 30% of that, and the rest comes from fundraising, grants, and their retail stores. It’s a staggering number, but the support they give is priceless. Every visit, every conversation, every moment they gave us during the hardest time in our lives, it meant the world. And now it’s our turn to give back.

So we’re asking for your support. Please donate whatever you can. It’ll help us over the finish line, and it will help Isabel Hospice be there for the next family who needs them. Thank you so much.
