Raising money for Step and Learn and British Heart Foundation

Story

Hey, I'm Patrick, I was born with Cerebral Palsy and my parents were told that I would never walk, however I have completed three marathons and a 250-mile cycle to Old Trafford. This time, I’m cycling to Ireland in memory of my late Grandfather.

Grandad, Paddy Kenny, was a bit of a boss - a Tom Selleck lookalike! His main goal in life was to make people laugh which he achieved tenfold.

Last June, our family felt a huge void when we lost Grandad, and we miss him so much to this day.

Grandad was born in Wexford in the South East of Ireland and I have many happy childhood memories of going back to Wexford on many family holidays with grandad - somewhere he really felt at home. One particular landmark that we always visited was Hook Lighthouse and so it is only fitting that this will be our destination.

In his honour, Callum Jordan and I will be making the same journey back to Wexford but this time on bikes. We will be raising money for 2 charities; Step and Learn and the British Heart Foundation.

Step and Learn use Conductive Education to help children with Cerebral Palsy & other motor disorders reach their full potential. This therapy was something that I used when I was younger and is one of the main reasons why I am as independent as I am today.

We hope you can follow our journey @destinationwexford and help us raise some much needed funds in his memory.

Anything is possible 💚
