Raising money for St Peter's Hospice

The Rugby March · 12 March 2023 ·

We are walking six miles through Bristol to raise money for St Peters Hospice, before celebrating together at the live Bristol Bears V Harlequins rugby game at Ashton Gate.

Story

We are a team of two. Rob and I have been close friends ever since school. We love our rugby and fitness. We have lads that are playing the game together and keeping fit. They are close friends too. We have said one thing we‘d like to do more of this year is go on some nice walks together and discover new places. Something that we know is having positive effects on our health without it feeling like a chore.

We are doing The Rugby March for my father Philip Hill, who at the age of 69 was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer two months into the nationwide coronavirus lockdown in 2020 and died in early January 2022 in the hospice age 71. My Dad too loved walking and rugby and would love that we’re taking part in this event. We walked a lot together, especially in his last year, 2021. He spent many of his years at Ashton Gate Stadium. It was like his second home. As it is for me, and my son. This is just so fitting. We shall meet the rest of our Old Reds group at the ground and raise a glass together.
