Let’s see whether we can stretch to £3500 and make a huge difference to the lives of children having an extremely challenging start in life.

22/Jun/2025 UPDATE: There are just under 2wks to go and we are so grateful to all of our supporters who've helped to push us past our original £2000 target and now within touching distance of £3000. You are all amazing, know that your kindness and generosity will make a huge difference. If you've donated already, please share our fundraising page with your friends and family, if you're thinking about donating, there is no better time! Let's reach £3000 together!

The team name tells it's own story, born from a foolish idea to do something different and build a team of Sellafield Ltd Chemical Engineers to conquer the Coniston Challenge 2025 in support of Alder Hey Children's Charity.

Taking place on the Saturday 5th July, the Coniston Challenge is a triathlon with a twist! A team event consisting of three stages centred around Coniston in the beautiful Lake District. The team must stay together to complete each stage, no-one left behind, perfectly suited to our evenly matched team of athletes!

Stage 1: A 15km off-road bike ride with 332m of climbing from the transition zone in Coniston through Grizedale Forest.

Stage 2: A 12km hike with 776m of climbing over the Old Man of Coniston. Via Coppermine valley and Low Water before zigzagging up to the summit for some spectacular views (weather permitting!) before returning along Goats Hawse down to Goats Water and Walna Scar Road.

Stage 3: A 3km kayak/canoe around the northern section of Coniston Water in Canadian or sit-on kayaks.

We'll be carrying an event tracker through each phase and our location can be tracked live on the day by following this link: https://live.opentracking.co.uk/conistonchallenge25. Please follow our progress!

We all have our own reasons for doing this, but those we have in common include being nudged, cajoled and badgered by someone else in the team to sign up and, importantly, an association with a friend, family member or colleague who in some shape or form has been supported at some point by Alder Hey.

Alder Hey make a huge difference in the lives of many, and not just the children they support directly, but their families and friends as well. Please help us support their important work by making a donation to support us. Thank you so much!
