Hi everyone!

Myself and Andy will be forming a Husband & Wife double-act duo as team:

"Racing the Sun...For A Li-Cure"!

Taking on 'Race the Sun Lake District Keswick' for children's charity 'Action Medical Research' who are on a mission to help save and change children’s lives through medical research, developing treatments, vaccinations and cures.

On September 6th 2025 we'll be setting off at sunrise and we'll be pushed to our limits to complete a triathlon-style course that sees us:

- cycle 34 miles around the winding roads of Keswick among some of the highest mountains in the UK....

- hike a 10.5 mile round trip to the summit of Skiddaw....

- and finally navigate a 2-mile water course by canoe off the shores of Derwentwater between dawn and dusk, racing the sun on this triathlon-style adventure charity fundraising challenge!

We're racing the sun in aid of children's charity, 'Action Medical Research'. They have spent over 70 years funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children, and young people. By supporting our team you'll be helping to find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities, and to develop cutting-edge therapies for rare and incurable diseases.

Through being parents ourselves to two beautiful kiddies and having personal experiences of friends and family affected directly by childhood diseases and disabilities as well as working in the field of Neurophysiology and seeing first hand the devastating impact that childhood disease and disability can have makes this a cause very close to our hearts. From previously working within a research team as well as having personal, ongoing, lived experience as to the vital, life-changing, life-prolonging work that goes on in research and development of treatments this cause is a truly special one. The prospects for finding new cures and treatments is almost within grasp and right now 'Action medical Research' are funding vital research projects with many more ready to go – but they simply can’t fund them all. With your help, we’re determined to change this and make a real difference to children lives!

We can't promise there won't be several husband & wife arguments on the way round....and hopefully we make it back in one piece....and don't divorce on the way round haha....but we can promise we'll give it our all & we'll definitely be ready for a beer at the end! So let's hope the Husband & Wife double-act duo can do 'Action Medical Research' proud & complete this fantastic challenge for this fantastic cause!

We have been set a task of raising at least £950 for 'Action Medical Research' & we really hope we can go above and beyond this! As this is a Triathlon-style challenge we have also chosen 2 other truly deserving charities that myself & Andy hold very close to our hearts & due to this any money raised above our target for 'Action Medical Research' will also be split between 'The MS Trust' & 'Mind'. 3 truly worthy charities for this triathlon style challenge!
