The Battle of Britain Week - EL&B - Wings Appeal Fundraising

Edinburgh Lothians & Borders's - 80 Challenge(s) and ‘virtual’ Brew for the Few

September 19th @ 14:00Hrs

EDINBURGH, LOTHIANS and BORDERS BRANCH

WINGS APPEAL

Normal fundraising methods are impossible because of Covid-19, yet the need for funds to support the RAF Family is greater than ever. Please support your Branch fund raising for the RAFA Wings Appeal.

In the month of September when we commemorate the 80thAnniversary of the Battle of Britain, we offer the following:

1. Bob Bertram aka MM0LBF (amateur radio callsign) is taking up the 80 Challenge and will attempt to make 80 QSO calls (two-way voice communications using various equipment, modes and frequencies). Please would you consider sponsoring him through Just Giving or via the branch Treasurer.

2. Sue Gillott will hold a ‘virtual’ Brew for the Few afternoon tea party on Saturday 19 September and you are welcome to drop-in for a chat on a Zoom meeting between 2pm and 4pm. She will give a short talk on the Command and Control of the Battle of Britain, the Dowding System that provided key direction to the Aircrew. We hope to have more items of interest on the day.

Please join us online on Zoom and bring your favourite brew and cake.

If you would like to share your cake recipe with us all (perhaps in exchange for a donation to Wings!), bring it along. If you could provide it to Sue, perhaps with a picture, in advance, we will share it.

Please contact Sue our Social Secretary or Dave the Treasurer for further details of how to join our Zoom meeting. We look forward to seeing you.
