Story
Endometriosis is a chronic illness that too many people have not heard about. It is a word that too many people do not know how to say or spell. It is an illness that ruins the quality of life for so many women. NO, Endo is NOT just a BAD PERIOD. Endo can grow and has been found on every organ in the body. It has been removed from the brain, mouth, lungs and more commonly the bowel and bladder to give a few. Endometriosis is tissue similar to the lining of the Uterus growing outside the womb. It also bleeds and sheds each month like the Womb but has nowhere to go causing pain, because whose body is meant to do that?!
I am 1 in 10. It has been three years since I was diagnosed and I have had two surgeries and awaiting a third this year. Wait times to be seen are ridiculous and once you are seen, it is a fight to be believed, listened to and treated.
Walk for Endo is walking 9000 steps every day in July. Last year was 8000 due to it taking 8 years to get a diagnosis of Endometriosis. Sadly, that has now gone up to 9 years and I know of many that have had to wait longer. We should be going forwards and not backwards.
No two days are the same. One month is never the same as the next. Being linked to the reproductive system, each month is a rollercoaster.
Please donate to this cause that is so often forgotten by or unknown to so many. 9000 steps may seem easy or little to others but for someone with Endo, one day might be manageable but next, feel impossible. Help those with this condition to get the help they need in a reasonable amount of time.
I am doing this for all my Endo Sisters, who have built such a strong, loving and supportive community whilst coping with their own symptoms day in and day out.
