Raspberry Squad Bradford Dragon Boat Race fundraising for The Cavernoma Society

Raising money for The Cavernoma Society

Bradford Dragon Boat Race · 21 July 2024 ·

We provide support and research to improve the lives of those affected by Cavernoma - a lesion in the brain or spine made up of abnormal blood vessels. 1 in 600 people in the UK have a Cavernoma and the condition can be genetic. They can cause strokes, seizures, and other neurological deficits.

Story

After a successful inaugural Dragon Boat race last year, the Raspberry Squad are once again taking in the mighty dragons at Bradford’s annual dragon boat festival this July!

We are once again fundraising for Cavernoma Society, a small charity which was set up in 2019 to support those affected by the rare neurological condition Cavernoma (lesions on the brain or spine which can cause strokes, seizures, and even death). A few of our team members have been affected by this life-changing condition, which affects people of all ages, including children, and we hope to raise funds to support those affected. Cavernoma society offers free retreats, counselling, support groups, and information on Cavernoma. It is a small charity which has no paid employees, therefore all of the money raised goes directly towards helping and supporting members and their families.

In spite of the fact that none of us have rowed before, last year we came third! This year we’re hoping to go further and win the race!

Please do come down and support us on July 20th if you can. We’ll need all of the support that we can get.

We know that times are tough, but if you can support us and sponsor even £5, it would make a huge difference.

Many thanks!

The Cavernoma Society has been set up by those with cavernoma to help those affected by it. We are a volunteer-run charity supporting friends, carers, family, and patients affected by cavernoma. This rare neurological condition affects 1 in 600 and it's our mission to provide support and research into the condition, thus improving lives.
