Story
Hi, I'm Emma — and on the 20th of June, I'm walking 100,000 steps in a single day for my son Daniel's school.
That's the equivalent of over two marathons, and every step is for Redhall — a school for children with additional needs in Edinburgh, and a place that has completely changed our lives.
My son Daniel attends Redhall. He is non-verbal, and finding the right environment for him — somewhere he could feel genuinely safe and supported — was one of the hardest journeys of my life. Since he started there, his development has come on in ways that still stop me in my tracks. I will never be able to thank them enough.
But like so many schools like this, Redhall is underfunded. There are things that would make a huge difference to these children that there is simply no budget for. So we're raising money to build a soft play area — somewhere the kids can regulate themselves during the school day, so they don't have to hold everything in until they get home. Because for a lot of these children, home is where it all comes out. And that is really tough for the whole family.
We also want to help build an outdoor education space, so these children can learn, explore and experience more in an environment that truly supports them.
Our goal is £20,000.
It's going to be a tough day — but it's nothing compared to what these kids and their families navigate every single day.
Please donate, share, or even come and join us on the 20th of June. Every bit of support means the world. 💛
