Story
Raising for two charities relevant to me - it's so hard to choose!
One charity is Yorkshire Cancer Research - after my own experience of cancer and in memory of friends lost to cancer. I hope one day that treatment of cancer is reliably easy, that it is no more scary than the Common Cold (itself once deadly). and things like chemotherapy and radiotherapy are memories of the past.
The other is Diabetes UK, now that this disease has become relevant to me and because so many people are expected to be affected by it. If we can cure this, or at least improve management, it helps so many. Diabetes UK also provide a helpline for patients and a lot of online information. Both have proven helpful for me.
I plan to attempt 50 climbs on Harrogate Climbing Wall's roped walls in one day. There are enough climbs up to grade 5C to achieve this, ranging from 10 metre tall top-rope climbs to 14 metre tall overhanging lead climbs.
I must really thank my belayers for this.
I had belay support all day from different people and couldn't have done it without them. I also had support from the staff at the climbing wall and the people of the Harrogate Climbing Social Group.
