Richard Clayton goes nonverbal for 24 hours!

Raising money for Child Autism UK

Child Autism UK (formerly known as Peach) is a national charity that supports and informs parents of children with autism, gives advice and advocates the use of early behavioural intervention programmes. Child Autism UK also raises awareness of autism and the benefits of early intervention.

Story

At Namos we are really proud to be able to support some fantastic causes, indeed through the years we have raised tens of thousands as our way of giving back. This year’s charity happens to be one close to the hearts of a number of us within #TeamNamos, Child Autism UK.

By providing services to enable children to overcome difficulties with communication, learning, life skills and by giving families the techniques and strategies to cope with autism, Child Autism UK has a noble aim, simply to help children with autism achieve their potential.

It so happens that two of my boys have autism, with my youngest, Chester, being nonverbal. Therefore, whilst I considered marathon running and skydives, I am going to take a day to also be nonverbal… I am sure people who know me, will know just what a challenge that is!

For 24 hours I will not say a word, my phone will go to voicemail explaining as though it is a day of annual leave, however, I will be on internal calls staying quiet… typing furiously, but I won’t say a word. So if you have always wanted to shut me up, March 21st is your chance!
