Raising money for Tiny Changes and Hope House & Ty Gobaith

Story

(N.B I would like any funds to be split evenly between the charities, so please consider splitting your donations. This requires you to click each 'Donate to a team member' link individually, or alternatively see which charity is 'behind' and donate to that one. Thank you)

I'm raising money for two charities, Tiny Changes & Hope House by taking on a series of running challenges, ranging from a 1 mile uphill to a 34 mile Ultra Trail Marathon. All details below.

The Charities

Tiny Changes ( https://tinychanges.com/ )

Scott Hutchison was the lead singer of the Scottish band 'Frightened Rabbit'. I was lucky enough to meet him several times, he was someone I admired and his music still means a lot to me . In May 2018, at the age of 36, Scott died by suicide. Tiny Changes is a mental health charity that was set up by his family in the aftermath of his death. They focus on children and young people, in the firm belief that it’s the right of every child to have good mental health and the opportunity to lead happy and fulfilled lives as adults.

Hope House ( https://www.hopehouse.org.uk/ )

Hope House is a children's hospice who support terminally ill children and young people in Cheshire and Shropshire. They also now have a sister site in Wales.

Hope House care for babies, children, young people and young adults up to the age of 25 years who have life-threatening conditions and are not expected to live beyond 25 years of age.

They also offer counselling and bereavement support to any family living in the area who has suffered the death of a child in any circumstance.

Help is available to children and families living in Shropshire, Cheshire, Mid and North Wales.

The Challenges

I will be taking on a series of running events over the next few months. I only started running last year. Having never raced more than 10km and never done the marathon distance, this is a significant challenge and will require me to train non stop between February and October 2021!

Challenge 2 - Hanchurch Woods 5km Trail Run 26/4/21- A hilly route over rough terrain. ✅ 23 mins 26

Challenge 3 - Helsby Hill 10km Trail Run 29/4/21 - A challenging 10km route over Helsby Hill. Steep climbs and technical desc. 3 x summits from different approaches. ✅ 58 mins 57 secs

C hallenge 4 - May The Fourth Trail Half Marathon RACE 4/5/21 - A half marathon race cross country trail over The Shropshire Hills.✅ 2 hrs 4 mins (4th Place)

Challenge 5 - Cholmondeley Castle Full Marathon RACE 20/6/21 - A full marathon over mixed terrain trail and road around the grounds of the castle. ✅ 4 hrs 16 mins (9th place)

Challenge 6 - Sandstone Trail Ultra Marathon (55km/34 miles) 28/8/21 - I plan to run the full Sandstone trail through Cheshire and Shropshire. Tough terrain and plenty of hills! ✅ Approx 8 hours
