We want to raise funds for this project because we deeply believe that the community has provided us with invaluable support, nurturing a strong sense of togetherness, teaching us about our culture, and reinforcing our family connections.
The land on which the community hall stands was originally purchased by our parents' generation, who came together to secure its ownership. We are deeply grateful to that generation for their support, as their efforts have brought lasting joy, unity, and cherished memories. We now believe it is our turn to give back and show our appreciation for all that the community has provided to us.
Ricky - The community established a cricket club that gave me the opportunity to join at the age of 10. Since then, it has played a huge role in shaping the person I am today. Now, as the Juniors Development Officer, I lead the Juniors Academy, and I feel it's my responsibility to give back to the community in the same way it once gave me an opportunity.
Beyond cricket, I am also privileged to be part of a community that has taught me the true meaning of charity, or as we call it, sewa. It keeps me connected, and to me, it feels like a second family, one that extends beyond just a place, but a sense of belonging.
Bhavisha - As a young girl, my parents always took me to community events, and those moments remain some of my most cherished memories. I feel very privileged to be apart of a close nit community that brings the members together from young kids to the grandparents. With the new project, i hope it attracts the future generations to take part at community events, so that they can experience the same warm feeling i get. It will really help the future learn more about their culture and provide them with life skills and probably make lifetime friends.
This project will leave a life long legacy for our community and our cricket club. The plans include the cricket club gaining a brand new 4 team changing room and most importantly a second pitch at our home ground in Northolt. This will ensure that our younger cricketers are not playing on substandard external pitches and can really flourish and develop into exciting cricketers.
Over the past 40 years the club has seen amazing growth. Starting with a handful of keen cricketers in 1985 who established one team playing a few friendly matches, the club now has 5 adult teams and 3 juniors teams playing in the Middlesex County Cricket League.
