Story
Hello reader!
Last year I decided to do something completely out of character and sign up for the Ealing Half Marathon with some of my colleagues. Up until then, the furthest I had run in years was probably for the bus.
After a few months of training, I completed the Ealing Half Marathon in September 2025, the furthest I have ever run in my life! It was a brilliant experience but definitely not an easy one. At around kilometre 15 my asthma kicked in, which made the final stretch pretty tough. Somehow, I managed to get to the finish line, but it was far from smooth sailing.
Despite this, I’m still running and on Sunday 24 May 2026, I will be taking on the Edinburgh Half Marathon where I hope to beat my previous time of 2 hours 15 minutes.
This time I am also running to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that supports young people facing cancer and helps provide the specialist care and support they need during an incredibly difficult time. It’s a charity I’ve come to know from being a member of RMG’s charity committee and from the support they have given to my colleague Clive’s son Frankie. More details of his story can be found RMG’s main fundraising page.
Any support or donation would mean a lot and will go towards helping Teenage Cancer Trust continue their amazing work with teenagers and young people across the UK.
Thank you for your support!
Eleanor 😊
